CONVENTIONAL NDT
Visual testing is applied with or without optical aids. Aids include magnifiers, microscopes, telescopes, and specialized devices such as boroscopes and fiber optic devices.

It is commonly used to detect defects in castings, forgings and weldments. We work-with all industry sectors , we can provide inspection on-site at our customer’s premises or at our premises.
This is a cost-effective method used to locate surface breaking flaws such as cracks, porosity, laps, seams and other surface discontinuities. It can be applied to both ferrous and non-ferrous materials and all non-porous materials .
The method is also useful for testing on-site as it is portable, and no need for additional resources such as electricity or water when visible color contrast is used
MT used to detect cracks and discontinuities within ferromagnetic materials (e.g. iron, nickel and cobalt) using a magnetic field and magnetic particles. It is also suitably applied to sub aquatic surfaces such as oil rig structures.
The method can detect surface or near-surface flaws such as cracks, laps, seams and inclusions in ferromagnetic materials such as iron and steel. One of the main advantages of magnetic particle inspection is that it can give an immediate indication of defects and discontinuities
It is used to carry out inspection on castings, forgings, welded components and composite structures in all industry sectors.
The method can be performed on all types of materials and its applications include:
- Flaw detection such as inclusions, cracks and porosity – particularly for small flaws or flaws situated deep within a part.
-Determining the thickness , particularly in erosion or corrosion monitoring.
- Assessment of bond integrity.
The benefits of this method include quick accurate inspection and portable operation.
The technique uses a pulser/receiver unit to power an ultrasonic transducer. Skilled interpretation of the signals will indicate if there are any flaws or imperfections.
RT is one of the most widely used techniques of volumetric testing and is often used to reveal internal, surface and sub-surface irregularities.
Radiographic testing is widely used in a variety of industry sectors including aerospace, power generation, construction, petroleum and chemical , and for all types of components and parts. It is commonly used on welded parts, castings, forgings, composites and is also used for corrosion mapping and the measurement of wall thickness.
Eddy Current methods employed using electro magnetic induction to detect sub-surface flaws in conductive materials. The technique is principally applied to surface and tubing inspections, and secondarily applied to making electrical conductivity and coating thickness measurements.
Hardness testing method are employed to test substance hardness. Relative values from a variety of tests are compared to conclude ‘hardness’. These values are achieved using rebound techniques, ultrasonic contact impedance , frequency testing of resonating rod with Vickers diamond tip. Hardness testers employed include bench-top Brinell and Rockwell testers. Hardness standards are set as per customer-definitions.
Is an integral part of tank inspection process as recommended by API and other international standards to evaluate the condition of a tank bottom plate weld or shell to bottom plate weld.
Provides alloy chemistry and grade ID information instantly using a hand-held analyzer without damage the sample. It is also used to ensure that the parent material in vessels and pipe spools is composed of the correct composition. Once the component is welded it is used also to ensure that the correct filler material was used
RVI is the inspection of objects or areas usually inaccessible to the eye without disassembling surrounding structures or machinery. It allows inspectors to discover hidden discontinuities before they may cause major problems, e.g. poor welding, surface defects, corrosion pits, general condition, degradation, blockages and foreign materials. RVI equipment penetrates remote places, utilizing small openings and sending images directly back to the observer or to a video monitor
ADVANCED NDT
Long range ultrasonic testing( LRUT), also known as guided wave ultrasonic testing ,is a fast and cost effective method for Inspecting long lengths of pipe. We specialize in using LRUT at oil and gas refineries and in the down stream processing sector.
Hundreds of meters of pipe can be screened in one day from one single location and the technique can inspect 100% of the pipe wall. LRUT can be performed on piping that is in operation, insulated and buried, and in areas that are difficult to access such as those at high elevations. The method can therefore save time and money that would otherwise be spent on excavation, insulation removal and scaffolding.
This technique is used to detect flaws that cannot be easily found with conventional non destructive testing methods such as radiography and manual ultrasonic testing. We specialize in the use of phased array in the oil and gas, power generation and chemicals industries, especially for the construction of new piping, pipelines, vessels and struc ural welded members providing Total Quality Assurance. We also use the technique in petrochemical plants, when quick and accurate inspections are necessary due to time constraints during outages.
A phased array probe is made up of multiple small ultrasonic transducers, each of which can be pulsed individually. By varying the timing of the pulse of each individual transducer, the ultrasonic beam can be ‘steered’ to a specific angle and focal distance – i.e. the beam can be swept through the examined object
Time of flight diffraction (TOFD) is one of the most reliable non destructive testing methods in testing welds for both pre-service and in-service inspection. An accurate assessment of welds is vital to ensure that the stability and integrity of welded structures is not compromised by defects.
This ultrasonic method is used in a diverse range of industries including petrochemical, chemical, oil and gas, power generation and fabrication
Digital radiography is used in all industry sectors and, in particular, for assessing piping, pressure vessels and valves. The technique can detect discontinuities in a range of materials including aluminum, steel, plastics and composites. The method is similar to conventional radiography, but images are not captured on film. Instead, images are captured using either flat panel detectors or phosphor-coated imaging plates. We use two types of digital radiography:
-- Computed Radiography (CR): Uses reusable phosphor-coated imaging plates to capture images
-- Digital Radiography (DR): Uses flat panel detectors to capture images
Early detection of problems using thermography can help in preventing unscheduled outages; improve the productivity of plant equipment and assets, increase safety and guide corrective action. Objects release thermal energy that is invisible to the human eye.
An infrared camera can measure the thermal energy and map the temperature differences of the object. The image captured shows the heat flow to, from and/or through an object. Temperature differences can highlight a range of problems such as corrosion, erosion, bad insulation, as well as flaws in materials such as disbonds, voids or inclusions.
